The Newfoundland, or Landseer, is a giant dog with a sweet disposition, tremendous strength, and exceptional loyalty.

  • Basic Positions: stand, sit, down, bang, beg, bellyup, shake, rest
  • Basic Activities: come, getbone, howl, itch, roll, rove, sniff, speak, wag, wander
  • Other Activities: go, run, on, greet, get (These require you to name a destination or an object; for example, "Fido go Sandry" or "Fido run redball" or "Fido greet Bichon")
  • Owner-only commands: heel, follow (Follow also requires you to name a destination)
  • Special command: fetch (Requires a redball toy, free at VKC Dog Parks)

These instincts are not described in any detail because it will be much more fun for you and your dog to try them out together.

Special Poses

The avatar approaches the dog to pet him by first standing in front of the dog and gently stroking his head. Then the avatar kneels on one knee, stroking the dog's head until the dog offers a paw. The avatar holds the dog's paw for a few moments while softly murmuring a few words that only the dog and the avatar can hear.

Color Options

The Newfoundland can change using the color and tint commands. Most of the dog will change, except for the ears and muzzle. The natural dog can be black, brown, gray, or black and white. The virtual dog has a much wider color range.
