Old English Sheepdog

The Old English Sheepdog (OES), or Bobtail, is a wonderfully big, fluffy, and delightful dog. Chosen by popular vote, the OES continues to be a popular choice. The Virtual Kennel Club™ hosted a big party on the Isle of Dogs for its release. Revelers were surprised and delighted when several of the dogs on display during this party chose owners for themselves and jumped right into their inventory, a gift of the creator.

  • Basic Positions: stand, sit, down, bang, beg, bellyup, shake, rest
  • Basic Activities: come, getbone, howl, itch, roll, rove, sniff, speak, wag, wander
  • Other Activities: go, run, on, greet, get (These require you to name a destination or an object; for example, "Fido go Sandry" or "Fido run redball" or "Fido greet Bichon")
  • Owner-only commands: heel, follow (Follow also requires you to name a destination)
  • Special command: fetch (Requires a redball toy, free at VKC Dog Parks)

These instincts are not described in any detail because it will be much more fun for you and your dog to try them out together.

Special Poses

When petting this dog, the avatar kneels beside the dog and wraps her arms around the dog. As she does so, the dog warmly leans into the hug.

The following poses add liveliness and charm to tricks you teach your dog. They must be used with the command pose. For example, to get the dog to bow down in the play pose,  you would say, "Beowulf pose play."

  • hug (dog leans and turns his head slightly to the right)
  • lookleft (dog turns his head to the left)
  • lookright (dog turns his head to the right)
  • pee (dog holds up hind leg)
  • play (dog lowers his front end while keeping his hind end up with his tail held high)
