Are you listening? Are those bells you hear? Well, yes, they are. The VKC Polar Bear Cub wears a small bell around his neck and it jingles when he walks or runs. It's not very loud, but if it keeps you awake at night, you can turn it off. As with his big brother, the VKC Polar Bear, you can easily change the color of the bow around his neck.

Instincts

• Basic Positions: stand, sit, down, bang, beg, bellyup, shake, rest
• Basic Activities: come, wag, speak, sniff, howl, wander, rove
• Other Activities: go, run, on, greet (These require you to name a destination; for example, "Fido go Sandry" or "Fido run redball" or "Fido greet Bichon")
• Owner-only commands: heel, follow (Follow also requires you to name a target.)
• Special command: fetch (Requires a redball toy, free from the Information Kiosk at every VKC Dog Park)

Special Poses

When you pet this little bear …

The following poses add liveliness and charm to tricks you teach your bear cub. They must be used with the command pose. For example, to get the bear cub to bow down in the play pose, you would say, "Fido pose play."

• pose crane (the little bear stands as tall as possible and holds paws above his head)
• pose hug (the bear cub stands up and places paws as though to hug someone)

Special Commands

As your Polar Bear Cub moves around, the little bell that hangs from his collar jingles merrily. You can turn this feature on and off with the “jingles” command.

Just say the word and this little cub will run up to you, hold up his short, fuzzy arms, and ask you to pick him up and carry him. This is a must-see! As if the cub weren't adorable enough already. When the bear holds up his arms, the avatar bends down to pick him up.

The owner can walk around and even teleport while holding the bear cub. Only the owner may give this command and the owner must grant permission for the command to work.

Permission: Before the "here" command will work, the owner of the bear must give permission to allow the bear to animate his avatar. To do this, use the following command:

• attach

A dialog will appear seeking permission to animate your avatar. Click "yes" to grant permission. The bear will remember this permission until it is revoked by the owner or until he is updated or reclaimed at the VKC Dog Clinic, so this usually is a one-time command. 

Once the bear has permission to animate the avatar, the owner only needs to use the command "here" to get the bear in his arms.

Stop Carrying Your Bear Cub: To stop carrying your Polar Bear Cub, you should right-click on the the bear and select drop from the menu. The bear will jump down to the ground. If you prefer, you may right-click on the bear and select detach from the menu. In this case, the bear will appear back in your inventory.

Color Options

The color of the collar on the polar bear cub can be changed using the collar and c-color commands.

• collar reset (restores the collar to its original green color)
• collar hide (makes the collar invisible)
• collar show (makes the collar visible)
• c-color 100 0 0 (makes the collar a deep red)

Toys

If you want your new bear cub to stop carrying the toy that's in his mouth, you can use the drop command.

drop [name of toy]

The toy may disappear completely. If you want him to carry it again, you will need to make sure the toy is rezzed and tell him to take the toy by name.
